More about the tests we provide...

THE COMPLETE BLOOD COUNT (CBC)

The CBC test counts the number of white blood cells, red blood cells and platelets and measures the hemoglobin and hematocrit. An abnormal result could indicate conditions such as:

  • Anemia
  • Infections
  • Blood cancers
  • Vitamin deficiency
  • Immune system disorders

BLOOD CHEMISTRY TESTS

Blood chemistry tests can pinpoint abnormal levels of substances that can indicate organ dysfunction such as kidney, liver and thyroid. The glucose (blood sugar) and A1C tests aid the physician in diagnosing and treating diabetes.

HEART DISEASE TESTS

Our laboratory offers STAT testing for cardiac enzymes, which is vital when a patient is having chest pain and shortness of breath.

Additionally, a lipid test is helpful in preventing heart disease. A lipid test measures total cholesterol, LDL (bad cholesterol), HDL (good cholesterol), and triglyceride. High levels of "bad cholesterol" and low levels of "good cholesterol" can lead to heart disease.

OTHER COMMON LAB TESTS

There are numerous types of blood tests that check for a range of conditions. Here is sample of the most common:

  • Blood Clotting Tests: If you take a blood thinner, your doctor may recommend periodic tests (PT and INR) to measure the effectiveness of your medication.
  • Lead Testing: This is a very important test for children two and under. Ingesting or breathing in lead paint dust could affect brain development in small children leading to learning disabilities and behavioral problems.
  • Throat Culture: A rapid Strep test is very useful to determine if a sore throat is caused by a viral infection, or the more serious bacterial infection.
  • Flu Test: We can confirm or rule out influenza infection within minutes.
